Finding love can be a difficult enough task but some would argue that holding on to it is even harder. So with National Kissing Day (6th July) just around the corner, we thought there wasn’t a better time to share our top tips on ways to keep your love life blossoming.
1. Make time for each other
A lot of couples wish they could spend more time together. If you have a demanding schedule then why not consider introducing a date night? It might not sound that romantic but having an agreed time when you can set everything else aside and just focus on each other, might be the only way you can spend some quality time with your loved one. It doesn’t have to be an expensive or extravagant affair- how about simply going for a long evening walk together or relaxing on the sofa with a good film you’ll both enjoy.
2. Say ‘I love you’
There are so many ways to say ‘I love you’ without having to utter those three little words. A loving hug. Holding hands. Leaving a note on the bathroom mirror. Breakfast in bed. All simple ways to keep your relationship on track.
3. Treat them
The early days of any relationship are usually filled with wining and dining and the giving of tokens of affection. Once you’ve settled down a bit, there’s no need to let that go. A thoughtful gift from time to time will remind them that you still care and reignite the feeling of butterflies in their stomach. So whether it’s a romantic gift for him, a bouquet of stunning flowers for her or simply picking up the tab at their favourite restaurant, small gestures such as these will make your loved one feel truly special. Interflora have a range of inspiring gift ideas from romantic experience days to gourmet hampers perfect for surprising your special someone.
4. Take an Interest
Taking a proactive interest in your other half’s working life and hobbies will really mean a lot to them. So if your partner is a member of a sports or social club, why not go along to their next big event to cheer them on from the side lines. Promotion at work or problems with a colleague? Be there to celebrate their accomplishments and lend a sympathetic ear when things go wrong.
5. Work it out
All relationships have difficulties. Accepting that as a fact and being prepared to work at your relationship will pay off in the long run. Try to keep positive and don’t dampen your relationship with hurtful words or fault finding. Remember that love is fragile.
