Interflora wins gold at the RHS Autumn Harvest Show

by Charlotte.Barnes on October 5, 2010

The winning design celebrates autumn using a combination of dahlias and autumn foliage.

Interflora florist David Denyer, who will be leading Interflora’s design installation at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2011, put the design together. David has previously won five gold medals at Chelsea, including four-times best in show; he also won the Interflora World Cup in 2004.

Take a look at the winning design below…

The Dahlias have been placed into test tubes filled with orange and red water. The dye used to create this effect is sourced from Oasis – so it doesn’t affect the natural colour of the dahlias. A selection of common autumn foliage has also been used, including: rose hips, sweet chestnuts, flax and American oak leaves. It has all been hung from a metal mesh and is six metres in height!

David said: “Winning gold today was a complete surprise, I’m hugely proud of this achievement. It’s great to receive such recognition for my work. This now paves the way for the design I’ll be leading for Interflora at Chelsea 2011.”

Congratulations to David on winning the gold!
