Behind the scenes with our florist at the Royal Wedding

by Bethany Day on May 6, 2011

As we reported last week, one of our Interflora florists, Samantha Connolly, was selected to help create some of the magnificent floristry at the Royal Wedding.

Not content with helping to dress the press stands and studios, Samantha also created 40 beautiful Interflora bouquets that were presented to the international media as a memento of the event.

Reflecting upon her experience of last week, Samantha told us “It was so nerve-wracking, knowing that the flowers would be seen by literally billions of people. It was incredibly hard work, as so much had to be done so quickly and to such high standards. It was amazing to see how well organised the event was, everything ran like clockwork, and the sheer scale was breathtaking. I am so honoured to have been asked to take part in this historic event and I’m really proud of the end results.”

Since taking part in the event, Samantha has been inundated with people asking if she’s related to Shane Connolly, the Royal Florist in London – the answer is no, it’s just a happy coincidence.
