At a time when many independent traders are struggling a local Interflora florist in Dorking is celebrating 35 years of working with and delivering fresh floral designs.
On Saturday 24th November Flowers by Elaine celebrated their birthday with Mercury Man – the roman messenger god who has been Interflora’s world-famous emblem since 1914.
Elaine Davis and her sister Shirley Welham established their Dorking High Street shop in 1978.
Three years on as the business grew, Sandra Mills joined them as Manageress and has continued to be an integral part of the hard working team up to the present day. Alongside her, Senior Florist Gemma Savage helps head the team ensuring ongoing success. Reliable driver Rick Ruff ensures the smooth day to day running of their delivery service.
Elaine Davis commented “We’ve seen a lot of changes in the town over the past 35 years with other names coming and going but we’re pleased we are still here. It is certainly tough with more and more people moving away from local high streets but we hope people will always appreciate that beautiful quality flowers are a unique way to mark a special occasions.”
To celebrate their landmark anniversary Mercury Man was invited to spend the day with Flowers By Elaine, helping out in the shop and carrying out an extra special Interflora flower delivery in Dorking to a local resident who was also celebrating a special birthday.
