More than 70 years on from its original conception, the Spalding Flower Parade is still going strong and this year’s event was no exception. Interflora was there to take in all the sights and sounds of the parade and we loved every minute of it, from the colourful costumes and amazing dancers to the great atmosphere and, of course, the beautiful flowers.
The stunning floral displays at the Spalding Flower Parade were a real treat to see and so we’ve put together our favourite floats of the day for you to enjoy.
The sweet peas and carrots definitely fit in with this year’s theme of food
These colourful butterfly dancers were lovely to look at as they followed the floats
A ‘Dig for Victory’ themed float with amazing tulip-covered aeroplane
Chrissy Tyrrell was the first woman to drive the Spalding Young Farmers Club float and steered ‘Dig for Victory’ during the parade
And it wasn’t just floats on parade; these stilt-walkers also got in on the fun
It may have been raining but this tropical float certainly brought the sunshine out with its live steel band
The Spalding show also features some great flower displays, like this amazing crown
We’re not sure it was raining enough for mermaids but she seemed to be enjoying herself on this fishy float
Spalding Energy certainly have a sweet tooth with this Bertie Bassett float
These participants definitely got into the spirit of the Spalding Parade
Spalding Young Farmers Club members Charlie, Luke and Oliver collecting for charity at the Flower Parade
Every one of these amazing floats was created using tulip heads – up to 100,000 on each float!
