Yesterday afternoon we proudly opened the doors of Interflora Flower School for the very first of our floristry experience days. The class was held in central London and led by Interflora florist and RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year, Sarah Horne where the group took part in a hands-on master class.
The session was based on the theme of ‘A Natural Christmas’ – providing a fusion of well known festive flowers and foliages, presented in a container which was also created by each of the students. The arrangements featured grand prix and spray roses, hypericum, ilex berries, pine cones, spruce & euphorbia. The planter was created using copper wire, lined with flat and Spanish moss to really emphasise the natural element.
The images here provide a glimpse of the early festive magic which was created – it’s worth noting that most of those who attended hadn’t any previous floristry experience, but left not only having created their own design piece, but also plenty of practical tips which will be put to use for years to come. Take a look at the video clip below to hear more about the session from Sarah.
We’ve still a few places remaining for 7th December – a perfect way to pick up some tips for decorating the home with flowers this Christmas time, led by RHS Chelsea gold medallist David Ragg. We’ve also released dates for Spring classes in the New Year, which would make such a perfect Christmas gift.
We were really touched by to have received such positive feedback from this our first class and can’t wait to share even more of our floristry knowledge over the coming months. Here’s some of the feedback which we’ve already received from those who attended yesterday’s experience day:
‘As a complete novice to floristry I’ve left with a surprisingly impressive centrepeice & practical knowledge to take away – a great gift for friends or family‘
‘It was inspiring and fun. The tutor was incredibly talented and brought out the best in all of us. Well recommended.’
‘Just attended the first Interflora flower school and will certainly look out for more! The quality of the flowers and equipment was second to none. I can see it was worth every penny‘
