How To Choose Your Wedding Flowers

Pink Wedding BouquetOf all the things on your wedding to-do list, choosing your wedding flowers is probably one of the most exciting and important. However, it can be one of the most daunting tasks too. In order to get the best from your florist and the picture-perfect flowers you adore, follow these helpful hints and tips on how to choose your wedding flowers.

Find the right florist for you
When the occasion really matters always choose a professional, experienced florist. A good florist will be a great asset in helping you prepare for the big day; interpreting your ideas and working within your budget to create the wedding flowers of your dreams. If you’re getting married locally try and find a florist who has experience dressing your venue and don’t forget to ask to see their portfolio of past work.

Be Prepared
When you go for your first consultation with a florist, go armed with ideas. Don’t be afraid to take cuttings from magazines, photographs of your venue and material swatches of your own dress as well as the bridesmaids’ gowns. It’s good to have a vision of what you want and what you don’t want.

Work within the Seasons
Although many popular flower types like roses, orchids and lilies are available all-year round, others are not. Out of season flowers can be imported, however this is often at a cost, so it is advisable to be in-tune with nature and plan your wedding flowers around the season you are marrying in.

Know Your Budget
Be honest and upfront with your florist about what you are comfortable spending so that he or she can maximise the money you’ve got rather than wasting time looking at designs that are out of your price range. Keep in mind, too, that it’s always easier to spend more as the day approaches than to frantically try to cut costs once the designs are finalised.
