Give Yourself a Gift: Competition Winners Announced

Last month we launched our ‘Give Yourself a Gift’ Facebook competition where we gave you the chance to win one of ten experience days from our extended gift range.

With 28 experience days in total to choose from, including everything from an exhilarating supercar rally, to a wine tasting evening and a mother and daughter makeover, our gift range has something to delight every member of the family.

With such choice on offer the number of competition entries was incredible and even more overwhelming where the numbers of people entering to win prizes on behalf of others who they felt deserved a treat. Needless to say, choosing the 10 lucky winners was not easy, but here they are:

Sharon Hingley won a Supercar Driving Thrill

She said: “I’d love to win, not for me but my wonderful nephew. Although he works full time he spends time each week supporting me to stay at home and live independently. Nothing is too much trouble; he is a true star and deserves a treat.”

 Denise McDowell won a Mum and Daughter Makeover

She said: “I want to give my beautiful daughter Sarah an 18th Birthday present to remember!  She is so thoughtful, kind and a pleasure to be around. The fact that I could surprise her would be amazing!”

Paul Chambers won a Helicopter Thrill for Two

He said: “I like photography and to fly over the Capital would be an amazing experience. To capture the historic and modern beauty of London from the air would be an out of this world and day to remember…”

Catherine Varley won a Helicopter Flight over London

She said: “My boyfriend always wanted to be a helicopter pilot with the army, but instead he has served 12 years in the Royal Military Police, including 2 tours in Iraq, and has just been promoted to Major, but he’s never been able to take me up in a helicopter. I’d love to be able to take him instead.”

Michael Furr won an English Heritage Joint Senior Membership

He said: “I wish to give his gift to my disabled parents as they enjoy history and would make good use of it.”

Allie Dsouza won a Sunday Lunch Jazz Cruise

She said: “I would like to win so that I can spoil my Mum, she totally deserves it and it will be a great way to remember Dad on her first wedding anniversary since he passed away. No tears, just good memories.”

Alex Henson’s poem won him a Gourmet Getaway for Two.

He wrote:

“I’m in dog house with the missus

Watching too much sport is my crime

Apparently she is feeling neglected

Because we don’t share any quality time.

Now if I’m being brutally honest

I’d have to say she is probably right

For with the Euros, Wimbledon and the Olympic games I’ve been watching TV from morning to night.

But if I won this gourmet getaway

She would have no reason to complain

By treating the wife to a luxury break

I could make her feel special again

Then back at home and in her good books

I can’t see any real reason

Why I shouldn’t sit down in front of the box

To enjoy the new Premiership season.”

John Hammond won a Theatre Trip for Two to share with his wife.

He said: “My wife and I met each other when we were selected by our local college to meet the Queen during her jubilee in 1977. We have now been married for 32 years and always like to toast our Queen for bringing us together.”

Christine Whitehead won a Spa Day for Two with Lunch.

She said: “I would love to be able to take my sister on a lovely day out.  She is the best sister I could ever hope to have and has given me a beautiful niece and nephew – she really deserves a little bit of ‘me’ time.”

Hannah Lyons won a Segway Rally.

She said: “I’ve always wanted to go on a Segway but never have done as husband is not so keen- if I win it he will have to do it!”
