Forget floral-inspired fashion, these imaginative designers have taken flower-power one step further and actually created fashion from flowers!
Ok, so the clothes might not exactly be wearable, but it certainly goes to prove how creative and versatile flowers can be.
Check out these blooming creations:
Creator: Jacqueline the Florist
Made from real flowers and foliage, this dress was created by one of our florists Sharon and Carol at Jacqueline the Florist, Southam, Warwickshire. The idea for Carol and Sharon’s floral dress came from a wedding magazine featuring an article on an Italian dress designer. Inspired by the fabric flowers of the original design, these two talented florists created an amazing display piece using real flowers, including chrysanthemums and roses.
Sharon says, “We were looking for a new challenge and wanted something amazing to put in our window. We loved creating this dress and had a lot of people come in and admire it.” Sharon and Carol are now looking forward to Christmas and all the new ideas the festive season should bring.
“We want to do something spectacular this year,” adds Sharon. “Once the creative juices get flowing, we’ll be ready to create something really special.” If you want to get in on the floral fun, send flowers through our florists in Southam, or our florists in Warwickshire.
Creator: Eco-artist, Nicole Dextras
These elaborate and intricately designed ensembles are part of eco-artist Nicole Dextras’ ‘Weedrobes’ collection, constructed entirely from real plants, flowers and leaves. As well as being a veritable feast for the fashion eye, they carry a thought-provoking message, reflecting the disposability and conformism of the modern-day fashion industry. Fashion with a conscience…how refreshing!
Creator: Designer, Hugo Cesar Dorado
Also modeled at the Bio Fashion Show was this flattering little number constructed entirely from sunflowers and leaves. Hmmm, we wonder if that jacket’s keeping her warm…
Creator: Fashion-design duo, Scherer Gonzalez
This flowery footwear proves that flower-constructed fashion can also extend to the shoe department. Presented at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin, these towering transparent heels were decorated with fresh flower stems and the clear platforms sprinkled with pretty petals. Who thought lilies could make your legs look longer?
