Garstang Show

The 196th Annual Garstang Show is taking place on August 6th, 2011 and is expected to attract more than 15,000 people!

From 8am until 6pm, the show will be hosting a wonderful array of shows and events, all centred around agricultural, horticultural and craft interests. Visitors will also be able to look at a number of lovely breeds of sheep and cattle, as well as meet shire horses, visit a brewery and see private turnouts pulling old style wagons and carts.

Leeds Flower Show

The Leeds Flower Show starts on Saturday 6th August and is a two-day extravaganza of wonderful classes, workshops and entertainment. The show, organised by Leeds Horticultural Society, has been held for almost 150 years and is extremely popular with local residents and those father afield.

Public admission to the show starts at 11am on Saturday with last admissions at 4.30pm. The Saturday show day ends at 5pm. On Sunday, doors open at 8.30am and last admissions are allowed until 4.30pm. The day ends at 5pm.

Flower Festival in Lincolnshire

The churches of Gautby, Minting and Waddingworth villages in Lincolnshire have joined together for a flower festival on Sunday, August 7.

Gautby All Saints’ Church was built around 1756 in a style that enabled it to hold its own against the grand London Churches of the day.
Minting’s Church of St Andrew was rebuilt in 1863 with fragments of an earlier church incorporated into the fabric and its Thankful Village status is celebrated in the church.
St Margaret’s church in Waddingworth is privately owned and it’s rarely open to the public.

Wragby Handbell Ringers will be playing at Minting and Gautby churches and light lunches and afternoon tea will be served at Gautby Village Hall from 10am to 4.30pm.

Gautby’s theme is the a “Yearly Cycle”
Minting’s theme is a “Life Cycle” – births, marriages and deaths
Waddingworth’s flower theme is a “Daily Cycle”

The three churches will be open from 10am to 5pm.

Shrewsbury Flower Show

The 2011 Shrewsbury Flower Show, now in its 124th year, will be taking place on 12th and 13th August at the beautiful Quarry Park.

People from all walks of gardening life will be attending, including professional growers, amateur gardeners, florists and architectural landscapers, who have all been planning their amazing show presentations and spectacular floral displays for months.

Stunning gardens, show jumping, medieval jousting, motorcycle displays, music, fireworks and special guest appearances from celebrity chef, Gino D’Acampo and TV gardener, Chris Beardshaw are all part of this fantastic weekend of fun.

Southport Flower Show

Dahlias-southport-show-august-11Over 200 trade stands will exhibit at the Southport Flower Show this year, from 18th to 21th August. In addition to a greater abundance of flowers you will find an extended food village, celebrity guests, including gardeners and chefs, and even a luxury cinema in a 1960s bus.

“Vintage” is the theme of this year’s show with creative traders, exhibitors and guests taking influence from design classics of the 50′ s,
60′ s and 70′ s.

southport-flower-show-2011Flowers, gardening, horticulture and floral arts are the cherished heart of the show. However, over the past few years, the show has also become a more urbane experience that now includes food, leisure and entertainment.

Talks, lectures and cookery presentations are just some of the many activities available at the show. Experts in The Garden Road show will be on hand to answer your questions and the
bandstand has a rich and varied programme of music.

For something unusual, the main arena will bring visitors jousting medieval knights and free flying birds of prey. The drama is balanced by the charm of dog displays featuring dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Clevedon Flower Show

The Clevedon Flower Show & Festival, organised by Clevedon and District Horticultural Society, will run from Saturday 27th to Sunday 28th August on the Salthouse Fields.

Two days of non-stop fun with flower displays, children’s entertainment and music (including marching bands, jazz bands, tribute groups including Neil Diamond, Elton John and Abba).

During the two day show there will be championship classes in Roses, Chrysanths, Dahlias, Gladioli, Pot Plants, Fuchsias and Vegetables together with a further 200 classes covering everything from the common garden flower to the best jams and cakes, photographs, craft and wine.

In addition to the traditional plants, flowers, fruit and vegetables that can be entered, along with photography, artworks, cakes and preserves, some of the classes are for more unusual items including a model made from Lego.

Sunday 28th August – 10.00am until 5.00pm

Harrogate Autumn Flower Show

The 2011 Harrogate Autumn Flower Show, which will celebrate a century of showcasing this year, takes place on the 16-18 September at the Great Yorkshire Showground.

This show is the ideal place to find inspiration for the new growing year. Spectacular floral displays await visitors to the Specialist Societies marquee, where a wonderful array of colours and aromas combine to create a memorable experience.

Leading nurseries across the country give expert advice on what to plant in your own garden, while Kitchen Garden Live is available for top tips on growing fruit and vegetables.  With more than 60 craft and gift stands there is also an early opportunity for Christmas shopping!

A Garden Border Competition has been launched inviting garden designers, landscapers, colleges and other horticultural organisations to create and build the perfect border display.

New for 2011 is a series of classes for giant vegetables such as mammoth marrows, tremendous tomatoes and colossal cucumbers!

Rare Plant Fair

A rare treat for plant-lovers everywhere.
Set within a 15-acre listed garden and arboretum, a Rare Plant Fair will be held at Llanover House near Abergavenny in Wales on September 18th.

Visitors will be able to stroll around lakes, streams and a dovecote while enjoying the wonderful plants and flowers on display. Unusual trees, shrubs and flowers have been planted in the grounds for more than 200 years and the beautiful autumn colours will be a sight to behold.
From 11am until 4pm, guests can browse these delightful flowers and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of the Welsh countryside.
Tickets cost £4 per person and can be bought on the day at Llanover House or via the Abergavenny Food Festival website.

Sugnall Hall Walled Kitchen Garden

Discover a secret garden in Sugnall.
Visit the impressive grounds of Sugnall Hall on September 18th and uncover a wonderful world of flowers and plants, you can even sample the best treats that nature has to offer from the Hall’s Kitchen Garden.

This fair includes walks around the established grounds, seasonal tasting sessions and a drop-in clinic with Dr Steve Reynolds; one of Shropshire and the West Midland’s leading experts on plant problems.

The Kitchen Garden at Sugnall Hall dates back to 1738 and is currently going through the process of being restored to its former glory. The kitchen creates wonderful jams and preserves made from their own fruit and vegetables, which can be bought in the tearoom on site.

Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree and Carols

The Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree and Carols event is now on in London and is a wonderful to ring in the festive season with your loved ones.

Each evening, the Square will be host to carol singers performing traditional and contemporary songs for the general public. There will also be dedicated services taking place on scheduled evenings, held in the nearby St Martins-in-the-Fields Church.

Enjoy the dazzling lights and wonderful music with your family and take a trip to Trafalgar Square this Christmas.

Camellia Festival

Chiswick House and Gardens Trust will be hosting the second annual Camellia Festival in February 2012 which celebrates the many unique flowers on display there. Running until 18 March 2012, the festival will be open 10am until 4pm daily and is open to the public.

The Chiswick Gardens Conservatory in Chiswick, London, was designed by Samuel Ware in 1813 and many of the flowers and plants on show are descended from the original planting in 1828. This includes the stunning Middlemist’s Red which is one of only two in the world known to exist.

Chiswick House and Gardens’ newly restored Italian Garden, created for the 6th Duke of Devonshire in 1814, has been replanted with an early display of spring flowers. Additionally, every Wednesday from February 18 to March 18, there will be an opportunity to book a private view followed by a specialist lecture by leading Camellia expert, Jennifer Trehane.

Harrogate Flower Show

The Harrogate Flower Show 2012 will run from April 26th to 29th and is held at the Great Yorkshire Showground. The show will display a selection of stunning gardens with information on how the look was achieved for each one.

There will also be a live Kitchen Garden event featuring a series of talks and demonstrations designed to help you get the most out of your garden this year.

As well as inspirational show gardens, visitors to the Harrogate Flower Show can also browse around some incredible pieces of Floral Art, sample the delights of the Food Marquee and pick up a lovely memento of the event at the crafts and gifts section.

Spalding Flower Show

The Spalding flower show and parade 2012 includes floats, marching bands, vintage bicycles and much more; all celebrating the beauty of flowers.

On Saturday 5th May, from 2pm, visitors will be able to enjoy beautiful flower floats on parade, as well as a flower festival with lots to see and do. This year’s theme is Food, Glorious Food! and so come and feast your eyes on these amazing floats and costumes.

The floral floats for the show will be on static display at the festival site within the Springfield Gardens, Spalding, from 9am on the 5th May, before leaving in the afternoon. Visitors are can also get a look-in early and the floats being created and decorated with thousands of flowers on the Friday night.

Visit the Valentines Mansion and Gardens Wedding Fair and find some inspiration for your big day while experiencing the beauty of this impressive 16th century mansion and gardens. Southport Flower Show

This year’s Southport Flower Show has finally gotten its theme for 2012; ‘Cool’!

The designers will be asked to create their gardens and displays around the theme of ‘cool’ with awards presented to the winning entries.

Additionally, this year’s show will also be hosting the first year of the North West Food Festival, featuring celebrity chefs, and the launch of the North West Book Festival. This will include a new Edible Garden Festival with a special “Bees and Honey” section.

Traditional tents and displays will be combined with live music and entertainment, food and drink and an extensive summer shopping village.
