Create a Halloween outfit with flowers

by Julia Bradley on October 31, 2013

Struggling for ideas for a Halloween costume this year?

Taking the lead of Mexico’s famous Dia de los Muertos (or ‘Day Of The Dead’) celebration, using real or artificial flowers, can be simple enough to create at home and is to get you noticed at your ghoulish parties.

Gone are the days when a simple witches hat and a green wig will do in an effort to scare your nearest and dearest, so fancy dress boutique Only Fools And Peacock has shared this particularly green-fingered Halloween costume idea with the Metro.

Firstly, gather up the flowers and a hand band. Wind the stalks of the flowers around the band. Mini cable ties, or even sandwich bag fastenings, are ideal for securing the stalks and will be hidden within the bloom.

Secondly, use contact adhesive or a glue gun to fix a wide, plastic Alice band in place for complete security.

Make sure you put some of the foliage aside to finish the look at the end.

Then grab the Halloween staple: face paint.

Paint on white face paint, and using liquid eyeliner or pencil, draw flowers around your eyes and, for those creative enough, a spider’s web on your forehead. To complete the outfit, team with a lace dress.
