Karen Barnes, Head of Floral Gifting here at Interflora, has had the difficult task of choosing some winners.
With such a high standard of entries it was so hard to pick the winner and five runners up. Karen judged on the floristry skills displayed, creativity, relevance to the Halloween theme, use of space, lighting, composition, relevance to the Interflora brand and the impact of the display.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of the florists who entered; we’ve been overwhelmed by the unprecedented response – over 100 entries! Also a big thank you to everyone who got involved by voting for their favourite entries in our Facebook poll.
And the winner is – Anita’s Fabulous Flowers of Belfast
Congratulations to our winner, who’ll be receiving an Ultimate Indulgence Hamper worth £100 very shortly!
Karen told us why she thought Anita’s Fabulous Flowers deserved to win. She said: “It’s simple but creative with great symmetry, composition and use of the space available. The window is well lit and shows great attention to detail with elements like the wired autumnal leaves.
“And there’s great promotion of the store by showing products available to buy like champagne and vases, as well as showcasing some amazing floristry.”
Our runners-up will each receive a Gourmet Delights Hamper worth £35.
Petal and Twig, Preston.
Karen says: “The witch is sensational and captures the theme perfectly. It really promotes the business by creating impact and the lighting really draws the eye to the display.”
The Flower Boutique, Dublin
Karen says: “The window is very dramatic and uses bouquet packaging well. A closer view shows the great attention to detail and the bouquets displayed show great commercial skill as they can also be sold.”
Callendar’s Florist, Framlingham
Karen says: “A skilful and innovative use of flowers that can also be resold. The theme is interpreted brilliantly.”
Karen says: “Very dramatic with lots of effort and detail. It shows great floristry skill with pumpkin bouquets and the arch around the gravestone. The window mixes Halloween and floristry very well.”
Guttridge Flowers, Swansea
Karen says: “Shows a good use of textures and materials especially the wood of the broomstick next to the flowers and foliages. It’s also lit very well and is all built around an eye-catching spider’s web.”
While these fantastic shops don’t get a prize, we were so impressed we thought we’d give them a special mention.
Karen says: “I love the ghost and use of materials. Great lighting, too, the warm shop lights providing an orange backdrop.”
Daisy Chain, Corsham
Karen says: “Very autumnal with a lovely Halloween flavour. The use of crates gives a lovely rustic feel and the whole thing will appeal to children too. A divide between the shop and the display may have helped impact.”
Sue’s Flowers, Aylesbury
Karen says: “A very stylish and modern display with a great alternative take on Halloween. It’s very distinctive with great floristry and an eye for design.”
And an honourable mention to Florabunda, St. Albans – winner of our Facebook poll.
