The 2010 Interflora World Cup recently took place in Shanghai. Representing Great Britain was Neil Whittaker of The Design Element in Irlam, Manchester.
He did us proud by placing in the top 10 at the end of the three-day event. Impressively, Neil has recently gone on to win the Croatian Cup 2010 too.
We caught up with him for a quick video review of the World Cup, reflecting on his experience and giving us the highlights of the event in Shanghai….

The Interflora World Cup in Shanghai has reached an exciting conclusion, with Great Britain representative Neil Whittaker eventually finishing in the top 10.
On Saturday the judges’ scores from the day before were available to competitors. These showed Neil 17th out of 20 and 258 points behind the leader and eventual winner Stein Are Hansen from Norway. But there were still two pieces to go and Neil was feeling confident he could get into the final 10 to compete on the Sunday.

Friday was the official start to the competition with the first two rounds. In the morning the representative of each country had to finish off their designer’s choice piece, which they had planned in advance.
Neil Whittaker, Great Britain’s representative, took us through the planning stages of his design in the video in Thursday’s post.

Yesterday was a wet, cold and overcast day in Shanghai, but the weather didn’t detract from the atmosphere at the Interflora World Cup.
All the contestants were busy preparing their booths from 8am until 8pm. Only the competitor and one assistant were allowed to work on the booth.
